Panthers’ LB Luke Kuechly carted off in costly win
It is not yet clear where the linebacker will end up next but one possible option is Carolina franchise after the injury of Luke Kuechly.
A game that seemingly held the Carolina Panthers season in the balance featured many aspects that have led to the current 4-6 record, except one.
The thing that makes every football season so great, or in 2016’s case bad, is we never know what will make it great or what will ruin it. “I’m keeping Luke in my prayers”.
Kalil and Addison left the game earlier with injuries and did not return.
Cornerback Kurt Coleman said the way Kuechly reacted when New Orleans running back Tim Hightower lowered his helmet into the middle linebacker’s facemask and chest was reminiscent of that hit.
While the Saints special teams were one failure after another, the offense seemed to be playing in slow motion.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw both of his scoring passes in the final 11 1/2 minutes and finished with 285 yards.
The Saints had to start from their own 14 after a holding penalty on the return, and though Brees completed three passes in a row, the game ended when Thomas was tackled after picking up 21 yards on the last play.
After another crushing loss, this time to the Carolina Panthers 23-20 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., the Saints seemingly are more adept at finding ways to lose close games than winning them.
“Our mantra is to Keep Pounding and it speaks volumes in situations like this”, Newton said. I talked to him. They ran for just 50 yards on 27 carries, though Jonathan Stewart did score a touchdown. Eighteen of them have come in the last four games. “You’ve got to always remember the next play”.
-Brees said afterward that the blocked kicks in back-to-back games have “resulted in pretty catastrophic results” and he’s right. It’s tough. There’s really no words to describe it. “I believe Tony will be the quarterback on a Super Bowl team. We forced one on the one pick down the field, but it was obviously a more patient approach”. The Cowboys host the Ravens (5-4) on Sunday.
Give them credit. They played a great game defensively.
Tennessee left tackle Taylor Lewan (Michigan) has been fined $30,000 for making contact with an official, and he plans to appeal.
New Orleans’ first-half scoring drive also involved follies, with tight end Coby Fleener catching a third-down pass for a would-be first down inside the Carolina 10 only to fumble and, although recovering the ball, losing the necessary yardage.
Despite the traumatic event, the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year was still encouraging his teammates in his state.
