Panthers’ Newton defends actions after Super Bowl
Do I wish he’d handled it better?
But the fumble certainly was a critical play.
“I listen to Christian rap and I have a guy I listen to named Eshon Burgundy”, receiver Jerricho Cotchery said.
“I don’t dive on one fumble because the way my leg was – it could have been [contorted] in a way”, Newton told reporters, including Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer. It appeared Newton saw the loose ball on the ground, but instead of diving for it, he stepped back. This year is different.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has a future in the NFL, Denver Broncos linebacker and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller said Tuesday, pointing to himself as an example of a player who rebounded from personal troubles to find success. Archie Manning said his son texted Saints coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees from the locker room in Miami.
“I don’t have as much of a problem with the postgame press conference as a lot of people do”.
Speaking with the media is optional on exit day at the end of the season, but Newton wanted to address the criticism directed at him since then. “I think that’s what happens”. “I think he’s grown up quite a bit”.

This was not the Newton who shares footballs with children in the stands, nor the Newton who ‘Dabs’ after scores. So I come along, I’m gonna take it. So [Peyton] would pin me down, you know, put his knees on my arms. I said, ‘Why are you guys acting like this?
“If you want me to be this type of person, I’m not that”.
“I don’t think that Johnny Football’s days are over in the National Football League. And I am my own person, and I take pride in that”.
Newton’s image has been tarnished and will be hard to fix.
I’m glad because kids sometimes need to see the wrong way of doing something to really learn a lesson rather than watch the right way. At the end of the day, when you invest so much time and sacrifice so much… and things don’t go as planned… “On behalf of the Colts, I’m sorry to our fans that we weren’t able to get it done today”.
Seems like the entire world wants Cam Newton to be more like Russell Wilson, but I’m perfectly cool with Cam continuing to be Cam. That’s what I don’t understand.
