Panthers president Danny Morrison said the team has been in contact with government officials, as well as Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and National Football League headquarters. That clears a lot of things up for a lot of people.
“The protest deal, that’s cool if they want to do it, but I think simply doing it doesn’t do (anything)”, he said.

“I think we should play the football game here”, Rivera said.
“I know this is different to a degree, but playing that game I thought brought a little bit of normalcy to the city”, Rivera said. “I can respect that, I see it, and I commend those guys”. “The last couple of nights hasn’t been”.

The league MVP did have some strong comments Wednesday about social injustice and the African-American community. “That’s not who we are”. Some people in the crowds threw bottles and rocks at officers and passing cars, blocked an interstate highway, surrounded and jumped on vehicles, looted businesses and stormed the entrance of a Hyatt hotel, injuring two of its employees. “It’s a tough time right now in our community, and we need something that’s going to bring people together with all that’s going on right now”.
