And to his credit, Manning wasn’t going into the topic of his future, by adding his own Belichickian spin to things.

“He has not said anything to me about it”, Eli Manning said Wednesday to Steve Serby of the New York Post.

He joked, “I don’t know if it’s been confirmed or not, you know?” I had the fortune of competing against him a couple times when I was in San Diego and as a coach you try to get past that because he does so many things.

For Manning to win this game, it would be the ending everyone had hoped for him. But the NFL’s decision to reiterate the news dredged up the story, which came out late last month, before Manning regained the starting position he lost while he was rehabbing a foot injury.

Osweiler, who will enter his fifth season in 2106, will be a free agent after Super Bowl. Peyton was on the losing end to New Orleans in 2010 with the Colts and routed by Seattle with Denver two years ago.

Eli Manning insists the outcome in Levi’s Stadium should have no bearing on his brother’s legacy. His regular season numbers were abysmal not just by Manning’s standards but for most quarterbacks.

“Honestly, I think there’s maybe too much placed on rings and Super Bowl championships, because it’s not one player”, Eli said. If this is going to be a game with some drama, the Broncos defense is going to have to figure out a way to stop Newton and company from scoring. They just don’t exist anymore.
