Pantone picks two shades for 2016 Color of the Year
“Neutrals like greige can accentuate the softness of Serenity and Rose Quartz, It complements both tones and can add depth as a crease color“.
Based on its poll of designers and manufacturers, Pantone says 2016’s colors will be pink and baby blue. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.
Pantone also purposefully chose the shades of pink and blue to draw attention to society’s traditional gender associations with the two colors.
This year’s colors are Pantone 13-1520 TCX Rose Quartz and 14-3919 TCX Serenity.
Serenity is a colour for relaxation and brings in a feeling of calm. Pantone products have encouraged colorful exploration and expressions of creativity from inspiration to implementation for more than 50 years. With a growing movement towards gender equality and fluidity, the selection of Rose Quartz and Serenity aims to represent a generation that refuses to be typecast or judged. All in all, you’ll be ready for the races and rocking the rose quartz for just $225.05 from hat to boots.
Now that Pantone has given these two shades its blessing, it’s expected that many of next year’s clothes, household furnishings, and appliances will be decked out in one of those two tones. It was also featured in a number of nail colour, cheek, lip and eye palette options to enhance beauty. As far as color trends go, these selections are standouts due to their simplicity, as they are all shades of white. Pantone believes that fashion is seeing a “gender blur” that will eventually change color trends in other areas of design, including interiors, digital design and print.
