Papal visits could delay iPhone deliveries
That might be good news for Catholics eager to catch a glimpse of the pope, but bad news for people waiting for the delivery of their new iPhone, due out on Friday. Similarly, some areas of Philadelphia are likely to face a delay for the pre-ordered iPhone 6s including Center City, Bella Vista, West Philadelphia, Washington Square West, Pennsport, Point Breeze, Logan Square, Mantua and more.
Specifically, New Yorkers living in the following ZIP codes will be out of luck on September 24 and 25: 10001, 10007, 10017, 10021, 10022, 10023 and 10029.
The delays will affect a broad swath of Manhattan, including parts of Chelsea, East Harlem, Midtown, Tribeca, the Upper East Side and Upper West Side, according to the technology website MacRumors.
The new iPhone is planned to launch for 12 countries that include the USA , Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the United Kingdom. This should keep customers interested, regardless of the shipment delay.
Note that not all iPhones are shipped via UPS in those areas.
Customers planning to get their hands on a new iPhone this week might have to wait longer than expected. Apple uses FedEx as well, and thus far, FedEx has not issued a shipping halt, so customers who ordered iPhones that are being shipped via FedEx should not be affected and should receive their phones on the release date.
