Papini’s husband says wife was bruised, shackled
After a three-week search, Mrs Papini turned up on the side of a road just before dawn on Thanksgiving morning, about 225km south of where she was last seen.
New details are emerging about Sherri Papini, who was kidnapped in a North California small town while jogging at the beginning of November.
Ms Papini has been reunited with her family.
Shortly after finding Sherri Papini, authorities said they were looking for “a dark-colored SUV with two Hispanic females armed with a handgun”, according to the sheriff. Authorities are now searching for two armed Hispanic women as the investigation continues.
Here’s a look at what we know, plus some of the outstanding questions about the case.
Papini went missing after she went for a jog November 2 while her husband was at work, Bosenko said. Her husband reported her missing when she failed to pick up their two children from day care.
Mrs Papini was found on Thanksgiving Day, 22 days after she first went missing, after flagging down a passing auto on the motorway.
Garcia told Fox 5 shortly after he offered his service, Paipini’s family contacted him. “The same bag she used to flag someone down once she was able to free one of her hands”, he said.
A Californian mother found by a passing motorist after being missing for three weeks was “heavily battered” and “chained to something”, police dispatch logs have revealed.
The women are considered armed and risky, Bosenko said.
“I will remain with the same information I put out previously that she was located, taken to a local hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released”, Bosenko said.
The sheriff has declined to discuss details of Papani’s injuries.
“I feel like I, like I should have done more”, said Sutton. The sheriff did not say where Papini had been branded and he did not provide further information about the investigation.
She lifted a bag her kidnappers had placed over her head and flagged down a driver, who helped police and her family find her almost 150 miles from where she vanished in broad daylight.
A day after a missing Northern California woman was found near Sacramento, her friends and family expressed relief.
“Of course we’d be looking for much more detailed information regarding the suspects, the suspect vehicle, where she was held, whether it be one location or separate locations”, said Bosenko.
Sherri Papini’s husband Keith said her disappearance was out of character and he was convinced she had been abducted.
“Right now she’s been through a very traumatic event, and needs time with her family”, 36-year-old Koester said. Papini’s hair might have been cut off to change her appearance and humiliate her, he said. He said no ransom demand was made and the Papinis are of modest means.
“This has been the most awesome Thanksgiving that our family could ever ask for”, Mrs Papini’s sister, Sheila Koester, said after her return. “I would get in fights, too, having to stick up for myself instead of knuckling under to what the Latino girls said and wanted”.
Tom Bosenko told DailyMail.com the post “came to light” in the past few days and they’re “investigating” any possible links to her abduction story.
