Paramedic bride leaves wedding to respond to vehicle crash involving her family
Nashville’s News Channel 5 reports a woman who is quite possibly the most badass bride since Uma Thurman’s character in Kill Bill responded to a auto crash mere moments after she said “I do”.
A picture of a paramedic attending a call on her wedding day has gone viral after being shared on Facebook. She didn’t stop once the newlyweds were on the scene with their family.
Ray, a paramedic with Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services, got married in a church in Clarksville, Tenn. on Saturday, October 10. “I just happened to be in a wedding dress”.
Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but Ray’s grandmother was sent to the hospital for evaluation. “I just happened to be in a wedding dress”. “It’s just anything that any first-responder would have done”.
Without hesitation, Sarah made her way to the scene of the crash to make sure everyone was OK – and her proud mum, Marcy Martin, captured the site of her daughter in her wedding gown at the side of the road.
Ray and her new husband Paul then carried on to celebrate their big day.
Mrs Ray immediately jumped in another vehicle with her new husband and her mother and drove to the scene.
“The first thing she [grandmother] said to me was, “Oh, Sarah, I’m so sorry I ruined your day”, Ms Ray said.
Sarah stressed that this is something she would have done for her family regardless of her profession.
“I trusted my co-workers to know what they are doing”, Ray said. “Personally, she is humble and compassionate and sets a good example for us all”.
“I’m just a husband in the background”, he said. They went straight back to work after the wedding, working different shifts at different stations.
