Parents say baby’s tumor shrunk after kiss on head from Pope
Today, Gianna’s parents say the tumor is vanishing and she’s becoming healthier.
Little Gianna Masciantonio, 1, has an inoperable and rare brain tumor.
Her blood cells attacked her brain stem weeks after birth and doctors told the family surgery is not an option.
Kristen Masciantonio and Joey Masciantonio insist the Pope’s kiss saved their daughter’s life.
If not a miracle, the Pope’s kiss gave Gianna and her family new hope and something very special to celebrate this Thanksgiving Day.
Her parents say that after that kiss, her brain tumor shrunk. Her desperate parents sought the intervention of the Pontiff, but they did not expect what would happen as they made their way through the thousands of people standing in front of Independence Hall.
“I, I think this is all from God”.
Gianna’s mother said the last courses of treatment took place just before Gianna met Pope Francis. “It’s just, it’s just a blur”, Kristen Masciantonio said. “She’s blowing kisses. She’s starting to point at things”. “Now we’re going to live with her”.
Joey Masciantonio indicated that Gianna will continue to receive chemotherapy treatments, as operation still remains as a non viable option to keep reducing the tumor’s size.
At first, Joe was anxious about bringing Gianna to the pope knowing that the large crowd might have an effect on her immune system.
An even stranger coincidence is that the man who held Gianna while she was kissed by the Pope was named Dominic, which is also the name of Gianna’s older brother.
