Paris attacker attempted to enter France-Germany soccer game
One of the suicide bombers during yesterday’s Paris attacks had a ticket to the France vs. Germany exhibition but was turned away when his explosive vest was discovered, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Fifteen minutes into the game, the attacker made an attempt to enter the stadium, but the security guards frisked him.
Two huge blasts were heard during the match with the third explosion going off at a fast food outlet near the stadium in the Saint-Denis area of the city. Backing away from the security guard, the attacker detonated the vest loaded with explosives and bolts, according to Paris prosecutor Franois Molins. Zouheir, who was stationed by the players’ tunnel, said he was briefed on the sequence by the security frisking team at the gate. One civilian died in the attacks, police were quoted as saying.
Suicide bombers tried to enter the Stade de France during the Paris terror attacks, the French Secretary of State for Sport has confirmed.
At first, Zouheir said he too thought the early blast was a firecracker.
Details of a night of absolute horror are slowly emerging today as France tries to come to terms with more than 120 deaths in Paris on Friday night.
However, leading French daily L’Equipe have reported their version of events of what happened at the Stade de France, with a few noticeable differences.
WSJ says the foiled suicide bombing in the stadium sheds light on why the attackers failed to cause the carnage that occurred at the Bataclan concert hall and restaurants elsewhere in Paris.

A few supporters revealed that the news began to spread amongst fans late in the second half.
The German football team was evacuated from the Hotel Molitor this morning following a bomb threat.
