Paris terror attacks: Glasgow Warriors’ European Champions Cup match against
All sporting events due to be staged in Paris this weekend have been postponed following the horrific attacks in the French capital on Friday.
The European Champions Cup rugby match between Racing 92 and Glasgow in Paris has been postponed.
Besides rugby and football matches, two basketball Ligue A matches and four women’s first division games; One handball Division one match; and Taekwondo Paris global tournament have also been postponed, said a report in BCC.
At least three people were killed in an attack following deadly explosions near Stade de France during France’s match against Germany on Friday evening.
Overnight violence in Paris has led to scores of deaths and France’s President Francois Hollande closed his country’s borders until order had been restored.
Glasgow Warriors announced the postponement on the club account on Twitter: “Today’s @ChampionsCup game against @racing92 has been postponed”.
The Warriors had travelled to France for their Champions Cup opener against Racing, which is due to take place at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Colombe outside Paris on Saturday afternoon.
A blast was heard during France’s 2-0 friendly victory over Germany, with fans and players kept inside the stadium long after the game had finished.
The committee handling France’s bid to host the 2024 summer games said: “As Parisians we stand in solidarity with the people of Paris and of France in uniting against these acts of terror”. “We expect more information about a possible rearrangement and will get back to you as soon as possible”.
