Parking of ‘odd’ cars prohibited on ‘even’ days

The court, which was hearing various applications regarding the odd-even scheme, listed the matter for January 6 for further hearing.

“The Department of Transport, Government of National Capital of Delhi has issued orders prohibiting the parking of odd number non-transport four wheeled vehicles (motor cars, etc.) on even dates, and even number nontransport four wheeled vehicles (motor cars, etc.) on odd days from January 1, 2016 to January 15, 2016”.

“Call up your relatives and friends and tell them not to violate it. This will only be successful when it becomes a big movement”, he urged. “After conducting car-free days on the 22nd of every month, we calculated pollution levels and it was comparatively lesser”, he said.
However, schools approached the court after the government on 18 and 21 December issued two notifications directing them to provide their fleets to the state-owned Delhi Transport Corp.
