Participate in smart cities, Clean Ganga: India to United States companies
INDIA will oppose any move by the U.S. to set occupation-specific ceilings, under its overall work visa permits, and will raise the matter at the first India-US Strategic and Commercial Dialogue (SCD) to be held in Washington today (Tuesday). “It is no longer about mere partnership”.
“We will do everything we can to support Prime Minister Modi’s ambitious economic reforms and his understanding that no nation should have to choose between prosperity and sovereignty”, said Biden.
“There’s so much potential for trade and investment”. And that is true in everything from clean energy to aerospace to financial services and movies, where, obviously, Hollywood and Bollywood reign supreme.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman are representing India at the first India-U.S. Strategic and Commercial Dialogue here. But it’s a great pleasure to recognize the extraordinary work of the U.S.-India Business Council. We have an ability to be able to build on this future. Each of our countries is ethnically and culturally diverse, and each is a labourer for peace, and each seeks a world in which the light of the human spirit overcomes darkness. “And that can only occur if we continue to liberalise trade with shared rules of the road”, he said.
The summit also featured a panel discussion on “Why Make in India?” moderated by CNBC anchor Seema Mody, featuring Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion Amitabh Kant; Emerson President Ed Monser; Chairman of HDFC Deepak Parekh and Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises Sunil Bharti Mittal.
India and the United States kicked off a crucial dialogue in Washington with the USA leaders saying America wants to be “India’s best friend” and India asserting that their relationship is defined by natural synergy of democracies.
“It’s no longer about what we can do for India, it’s about what we can do with India, what we can do together”, he stressed.
But you also get the benefit of something called jobs, millions of jobs waiting to be created in the process of the transition which is transformative to alternative renewable other sources of energy as we de-carbonize over a period of time.
Sushma said there is a strong recognition between both countries of the larger strategic vision driving their partnership, which led to elevating the relationship through the Declaration of Friendship and adoption of a Joint Strategic Vision for Asia-Pacific and the Indian Ocean Region earlier this year, when our leaders met in New Delhi for India’s Republic Day.
“This is truly a humbling experience”, Ms. Bhartia said after receiving the award. Kerry was speaking at the 40th Leadership summit of US-India Business Council (USIBC), the largest bilateral trade association in the U.S. dedicated to strengthening the economic and commercial relationship between the United States and India. “I would not be the artist I am today had it not been for the inspirations that have guided me in my absorbing the gifts offered by both cultures, my birthplace India and my half a century’s participation in the creative life of New York City”, said Natvar Bhavsar.
“We hope for a healthy dialogue between the two sides on issues such as greater parity related to visa and immigration, totalization agreement and future areas of cooperation, such as cyber security and Internet of things”, she added.
