Partner of dead ‘EastEnders’ actress arrested
Arthur Simpson-Kent was arrested in Ghana after fleeing the United Kingdom following the death of his partner Sian Blake and their two children, Zachary, eight, and four year-old Amon.
An investigation into the Metropolitan Police’s handling of the case was launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission after it was revealed Ms Blake’s and her children’s heavily concealed bodies had lain undiscovered in the family garden for up to 20 days.
Arthur Simpson-Kent, Ms Blake’s former partner, is being sought by police.
The Government of Ghana has confirmed the arrest today, Saturday January 9, 2016, of a suspected British murderer, Arthur Simpson-Kent.
‘We are now working alongside the Ghanaian authorities but are not in a position to discuss further at this time’.
Detectives discovered the bodies of Ms Blake, 43, and her two sons last Tuesday and said “significant attempts” had been made to hide the family’s remains.
They died from “head and neck injuries”, a post-mortem found, before being hidden in their own garden.
It comes a day after a picture emerged of Simpson-Kent in Ghana.
The Metropolitan Police has faced questions over why it took so long for its murder squad to become involved and has referred itself to the police watchdog, the IPCC. With (Other OTC: “WWTH – news) the kind of collaboration between the police and public that we have, we managed to nab him there”.
He is expected to stay in the custody of Interpol in the capital Accra tonight before being handed over to Scotland Yard tomorrow, the Mirror reports.
