Parts of Plains brace for blizzard conditions
But the threat wasn’t over: Residents in northern Alabama were in for moderate to severe flooding Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The creek isn’t expected to fall below flood stage until Monday.
An official with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office says deputies are responding to damages caused by a tornado east of Dallas, including a trailer park ablaze. NPR’s Newscast Unit reported that Birmingham Mayor William Bell says the city is working with the Red Cross and the Baptist Association to provide shelter for people who need it.
Not only was there flooding but a Tornado also ripped through Birmingham, Alabama on Friday.
The Weather Service said there were also reports of debris falling from the sky onto a highway in nearby DeSoto.
The Weather Service said a tornado had touched down to the south of Dallas in Ellis County, where Emergency Management Coordinator Stephanie Parker said: “We have destroyed and damaged homes”.
The governor of Alabama has issued a state of emergency following several days of excessive rains and flooding. We will actively monitor the flooding, and are prepared to respond to any requests for assistance’.
Roads and bridges in some places are washed out or impassible.

Power was out for at least 31,000 customers in the region as of Saturday night, according to energy company Oncor.
