With only 3 sittings left this week for the current Winter session of Parliament and hardly any legislative business transacted in Rajya Sabha so far, the All Party meeting convened by the Chairman of Rajya Sabha raised the prospects of passage of some of the pending Bills in the Upper House during the remainder of this session, said Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. He (juvenile) would not have been released if this bill had passed six months ago. “Our struggle is to get this bill passed”, she said, adding that she will like to go to Rajya Sabha, if a pass is arranged, to see it getting passed.
Opposition leader Ghulam Nabi Azad alleged that the Centre is playing mischief to divert attention from the DDCA scam. “After the Rajya Sabha passes it, it would have to be sent to the Lok Sabha as there have been amendments”.
“Now the bill should be passed today”.
They also include an additional Rs. 952 crore towards loan to Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd, and Rs. 344 crore for financial relief to ITI Ltd. Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi held informal parleys with opposition leaders on the Bill.
