Paterno was told of Sandusky’s child abuse in 1976: court docs
Penn Live reports an insurance expert notes Penn State had six chances to report child sex-assault allegations involving Sandusky.
Sandusky was convicted in 2012 and was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison, The Washington Post reported.
A Paterno family lawyer denied the claim, stating the evidence “stands in stark contrast” to the story, according to the AP report.
When McQueary was asked if Schiano had told him what he had done about that, McQueary replied, “No, he didn’t share that with me”.
McQueary added that he didn’t know whether Bradley, now UCLA’s defensive coordinator, had reported the incident, which he said happened in “like 2005, ’06; it could have been anywhere in there”.
Hundreds of pages of documents in the suit were released Tuesday after a petition from a group of news media organizations, including the Centre Daily Times. His attorney denied that Bradley had any knowledge of sexual abuse.
Either way, Mora and UCLA will have to say something about this situation in the next few days and what it means for UCLA Football going forward.
Doe 75 alleged that when he was 13 in 1987, assistant Penn State football coach Joe Sarra walked in on him while Sandusky had his hands down his shorts.
Paterno had claimed that he was unaware of any allegation until McQueary told him in 2001. Sandusky kissed him on the forehead, as if to assure him that everything was okay, the man testified.
Q: “Did he tell you that he had information concerning Gerald Sandusky and children?”
McQueary said he told Timothy Curley and Gary Schultz – two crucial members of the Penn State sports administration team at the time – what he had seen. “I said, ‘Is that all you’re going to do?'” They never spoke about it again. He died on January 22, 2012 at age 85.
‘The materials released today relating to Joe Paterno allege a conversation that occurred decades ago where all parties except the accuser are now dead.
Wick Sollers said the accusations in newly unsealed court documents have never been subjected to even the most basic objective examination.
Anderson’s statements were contained in court documents unsealed Tuesday in a dispute between Penn State and its insurer.
According to the man’s testimony, other campers in the shower heard him cry out.
Doe 150 said the alleged abuse took place at a football camp, and that Sandusky approached him while he was in the shower and inserted his finger into the boy’s rectum. He says he remembers being told the man’s name was “Harman, something like that”.
In the deposition, he said that he bolted from the house – “I just had to get the hell out of there” – and that no one from the house, Penn State or child-welfare authorities ever followed up about his allegation. Barron was quoted in the statement, speaking on behalf of the University, as saying Penn State does not plan to provide an additional comment.
The questions of who knew what and when have continued to turn up disappointing results at Penn State, and this latest set of documents only makes matters worse for all involved.
