Patrice Evra: ‘Cristiano Ronaldo Was 99% Coming Back To Manchester United
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has just revealed in an interview that he may will not play football for long, planning to retire in the next three or four years and “live like a king”.
In terms of the Premier League, Ronaldo’s affiliation to United means it is unlikely Chelsea or Manchester City could persuade him to move anywhere else other than Old Trafford.
And now the Daily Express has reported Ronaldo has refused to commit his long-term future to Madrid, despite being content for the time being. One of these days he asked me for an iPhone 6 but I told him no. He said it was to call me and I said for him to use his grandmother’s phone. I have to choose the best one.
He idolises Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo is non-committal over his future at Real Madrid, while Patrice Evra has claimed the Portuguese was close to re-joining Manchester United two years ago.
According to Evra, both former United manager David Moyes, as well as his successor Louis van Gaal and club chief executive Ed Woodward sought to convince the France global to reject the advances of the Italian champions.
“[Ferguson] was looking younger and younger, amazing”.
None of that came to pass, though, with Ferguson announcing his retirement on May 8 2013.
“You understand football, you know how to talk to people, you’ve got the leadership”. It was a big trauma.
Evra moved to Juventus for £1.2m and not only won a domestic treble in his first season but also reached the final of the Champions League. He then followed this up by winning the prize in 2013 and 2014.
Due to their preposterously good scoring records over the last few years for Real Madrid and Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are widely labelled as the two greatest soccer players of the last 30 years. “That is why I have been able to achieve so much in my career”.
