Patrick Kane Removed from Cover of EA National Hockey League Game
Kane was originally scheduled to be on the cover with teammate and captain Jonathan Toews – who is raising the Stanley Cup – but EA Sports made the decision to move on without him.
EA Sports planned to have Patrick Kane on the cover of NHL16 – but in light of the rape investigation pending against the 26 year old Chicago Blackhawks winger, the company has chosen to remove him from the packaging of the video game. In the picture below, awards host Rob Riggle unveils the cover of “EA Sports National Hockey League 16” during the awards show at MGM Grand Garden Arena. It is now expected that the cover will feature only Toews.
Kane’s lawyer, Paul Cambria, and agent, Pat Brisson, did not return messages seeking comment. According to a report from the Buffalo News, the woman, who’s in her 20s, said she had “bite marks on her shoulders and a scratch on her leg after the alleged attack”. Eyewitnesses claim that Kane was seen at Buffalo, NY’s popular SkyBar nightclub last Saturday with the victim and a friend.
Neighbors told the Tribune three unmarked police cars arrived at Kane’s gated mansion on Lake Erie the following evening and several plainclothes officers entered his house carrying flashlights. Police are now waiting for forensic evidence test results to arrive in order to proceed with the case.
EA Sports cut ties with Patrick Kane on Wednesday amid the reported rape investigation surrounding Kane.
The Blackhawks preseason begins next month.
