Patrick Wilson cast as villain Ocean Master in ‘Aquaman’
Wilson playing Orm may surprise a lot of people, but him joining the cast of a film being directed by James Wan shouldn’t surprise anyone. However, the two men share similar powers and Orm’s abilities include mastery of magical manipulation.
In the comics, Orm, also called Ocean Master, is Aquaman’s human half-brother and a rival for the throne of Atlantis.
Wilson began his career on Broadway and is a two-time Tony nominee, and also has Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. This prompts Orm to seek the destruction of his half-brother, which assumedly will be a main plot point in the new DC Cinematic Universe version of “Aquaman”.
We now learn that when it comes to Aquaman’s own standalone movie, that he’s going to be doing battle with Patrick Wilson, too. For a character that has often been mocked and ridiculed, it is ironic that it’s the Aquaman movie that is inspiring the most hope for the future of this fascinating franchise.
“Aquaman” villains will go against Jason Momoa‘s character in the upcoming film to release this coming October 5, 2018.
Although Patrick Wilson is most recognizable for his recent ghost-busting endeavours, Wan’s muse is hardly a stranger to comic book movies either. Sometimes he’s a pirate and sometimes he’s made a deal with a demon for a powerful mystic trident. Further, he alters reality to try and become Aquaman. And while Wilson played the closest thing to an actual hero in Watchmen for DCEU godfather Zack Snyder, this represents a darker return. “Here we go”, to director Wan. Wilson is the fourth actor confirmed to be part of the Aquaman movie.
