Patriots coast into off week with 51-17 win over Jaguars
According to ESPN Stats & Information, Bortles completed just 4 of 15 passes against the Patriots when targeting receivers more than 10 yards downfield. Tom Brady completed 33 of 42 passes for 358 yards and two touchdowns, including his 400th career touchdown. Brady threw the ball seven times and was sacked once. The crowd chanted “Brady! Brady! Brady!” “From 23-3 onward, we got out of character”, he explained. It was a special day. “I thought our team really came out and played well”, said the Patriots’ coach. We still have a lot of [stuff] we’ve got to work on, and it’s a long haul after this. A ballboy quickly retrieved it. That would be a hoot though, wouldn’t it?
“We executed perfectly on offense”, running back Dion Lewis said. “We are pretty good”. “It’s just a ball. Danny can do whatever he wants, he made a great catch”. “How is Brady still in the game?” Rule it a TKO. The Patriots scored on every single one of their drives except for the final kneel downs, which is incredibly poor no matter what offense or QB you are playing against.
Later in the interview, Brady also noted that the Pats have played smart.
Brady threw his first touchdown pass all the way back in week five of the 2001 season, and we’re guessing that his last won’t come anytime soon.
“With that, when the plays are there to make, we need to make them”. “Are you looking at me, Roger?”
And he left the podium.
What else is there to say about Stephen Gostkowski? He has to be. But you have to at least consider the possibility … and you frankly have to kill a few time here on the bye week.
This was supposed to look like a pre-Super Bowl matchup. However, it was not enough to quell the joyous laughter from Patriots fans as they exited Gillette Stadium celebrating yet another dominating win.
Brady has carried around the hurt of his Michigan days – he was redshirted as a freshman and then sat on the bench for two years – and the pain of lasting until the sixth round of the 2000 draft when he was the seventh quarterback taken and the seventh player taken by the Patriots. “And he’s not done”.
■Orchard Lake St. Mary’s alum Allen Robinson had 68 yards on four catches for the Jags.
Coaches this week credited his work ethic. Simple things like let’s get the tight end involved; let’s get Marcedes [Lewis] more involved.
Did the National Football League do this one objective? Jim Calhoun and Geno Auriemma have been two of them in Connecticut.
It started with Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley.
They promptly went undefeated in the regular season, destroying every opponent right up to the Super Bowl, when Eli Manning and the Giants shocked them and ruined their flawless year.
This is the way Belichick rolls.
It was a milestone Sunday for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. One more hit than was necessary. “Both of them, durability, longevity, consistent production”. Sure. With significant injuries such as those, any team is likely to feel the affects. So much brilliance. No. 1 was a 21-yard pass to Terry Glenn on October 14, 2001. And once again, when Bortles made a big mistake, Bradley’s team went into a shell and never recovered. Luck has thrown a pick in eight of his last 10 games.
So many touchdowns. So much brilliance.
Though Dexter Manley might disagree (what was up with that?!?), Brady is making an early claim to his third career MVP award. Brady has 53 more in the playoffs. He acknowledged Tony Amendola’s great catch and said the receiver could do what he wanted with the ball. The Vegas line should have been, “Whatever Belichick wants”. So the mauling would be start to finish.
They scored 28 on the Steelers.
“All of those personal achievements are really a result of what our team has been able to accomplish”.
