Patriots DL Chandler Jones admitted, released at hospital
The release, sent out by Town Manager William Keegan Jr., sheds light on some new information about the events leading to Jones’s hospital visit.
“Like I said, I made a stupid mistake and hopefully it can just blow by”. Jones addressed the issue on Thursday in the locker room for a short period of time, apologizing for his actions and turning his focus to Saturday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones lives near the Foxborough police station, and he walked there to seek help after the bad reaction. While speculation has swirled in Boston, the Patriots, Jones nor police have not confirmed the exact nature of the medical issue.
At this point, we know that he was admitted to a hospital after he reportedly showed up at a police station in Foxborough, Mass. looking noticeably “confused”.
The Boston Globe reported Jones was on synthetic marijuana and on Thursday provided even more freakish details from a police report. The Dallas Cowboys are one such team, as they regularly attract negative attention due to its media-loving owner Jerry Jones and controversial players such as defensive end Greg Hardy. I truly understand it. Like I said, I want to apologize to all the fans and everyone’s support.
Initial reports claimed that Jones was taken to the hospital via ambulance after he overdosed on pills. “When we come in this building we ignore the noise, focus on what we can focus on, get better, and just continue to grind”.
Here is a link to the police report.
“We asked this man to identify himself and we had also asked him to tell us what he had been doing”.
At his home, officers detected the smell of burnt marijuana.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said earlier Thursday that the health and safety of players and staff is his top priority. The NFL could subject Jones to the Intervention Program due to his hospitalization, but Jones would only miss time if he were already within the Second Stage of the Drug Policy (ie: repeat offender).
Jones was released later that day and reported to Monday’s practice, where he participated fully, according to a statement from the Patriots. “Might be easier for all of us”.
