Patriots Pro Bowl DL Chandler Jones: ‘I made a mistake’
Jones apparently approached the police-only entrance of the Foxboro police station shirtless, and fell to the ground outside of the station in a manner that appeared to be part of a praying ritual.
Reporters scrambled to figure out what happened, with Christopher Gasper of the Boston Globe reporting that Jones had a bad reaction to synthetic marijuana.
SportsCenter 5 contributor Chris Gasper, of the Boston Globe, reported that Jones’ reaction to the drug is what contributed to Jones being admitted to the hospital on Sunday. Asked if he felt the need to apologize to his teammates, he said: “I feel the need to apologize to everyone”.
There also has not been any indication that he will miss the Patriots’ AFC playoff game Saturday against the Chiefs.
Fans said they were happy to see tight end Rob Gronkowski get two touchdowns despite a recent knee injury and missing practice twice this week. Later on, after the dispatch records had been modified to remove information, according to the Herald, O’Leary said it wasn’t a “police-specific” call, but rather a medical incident, and thus, the details were being withheld due to privacy concerns. “Right now my main focus is on becoming the best player I can be, helping the team and focusing on Kansas City”. “He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then”, the Patriots said Tuesday in a statement.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick said at his Thursday press conference that the health and safety of his players was his top priority, but didn’t say whether Jones’ usage would be affected as a result. Jones has practiced every day this week and appears on track to play against the Chiefs.
Jones: “Like I said, I understand the question, I do”. I love everybody in this organization. “I could just Xerox you a copy of the gameplan and you can send it over to Kansas City. It might be easier for all of us”.
