Patriots RB Dion Lewis needs second knee surgery
The 25-year-old running back, who tore his left ACL last November 8 against Washington, will need a second knee surgery, according to a report from the Boston Globe’s Jim McBride.
Lewis will need another knee surgery, Jim McBride of the Boston Globe reports.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Vollmer underwent shoulder surgery and the recovery time will be too long for him to return this season. Lewis started six games for the Patriots last season, providing help in both the backfield and as a receiver.
After undergoing offseason surgery to fix a hampered shoulder, Vollmer is headed to the PUP/injured reserve list to begin the year with a hip injury suffered during training camp. The 6-foot-1, 300-pounder played in 14 games as a rookie last season, starting in 10. The New England Patriots are now on the wrong side of that trend, reeling with multiple injuries on offense prior to the start of the National Football League season. That’s a big blow to the offensive line, and not the only one.
For starters, the team will be without quarterback Tom Brady for the first four games of the regular season.
Second year guard Shaq Mason reportedly broke his hand, and will be out for an unknown period of time.
It will be a challenge for the Patriots offense early this season.
