Patriots, Saints keep their fists unclenched
The team continues their joint practicing with the New England Patriots in advance of their preseason game this Saturday.
For the Saints to get back on top in the NFC South, they have to re-establish their dominance at the Superdome. Here are his thoughts.
Sean Payton will not tolerate fighting. Cam Jordan was a force, taking down Pats quarterback Tom Brady several times and assisting in a John Jenkins sack. When Jimmy Graham emerged in 2011, Brees somewhat became a bit more Graham-centric.
If not, he says he hopes to rule by September 4, six days before Brady’s Patriots are set to open the season against Pittsburgh. Again, the Saints have to win by outscoring people and Brees is now entering his 15th NFL season. If Spiller is available from week one as is expected, Payton as shown that he can turn a running back like him into a fearsome offensive joker on the field.
Brady did the picking apart, and the Saints defense just really struggled, especially in the secondary.
That is welcome news for a New Orleans squad that finished with a disappointing 7-9 record last season, was out of playoff contention and sits well back of the favorites on the Super Bowl futures with 33-1 odds.
Brady also engaged in friendly chatter with Saints quarterback Drew Brees, but still has not spoken with media since training camp began. However, Vaccaro slumped badly while playing through a litany of injuries in 2014.
“It’s a big reason why we’re practicing with them [Patriots] a third time”, Payton said. Both are aggressive and that’s where it starts. “(Patriots cornerbacks) are more my size, so it was definitely a good feel to be able to go against someone who’s that shifty”.
The toughest matchup for the trio might not be starters Brandin Cooks or Marques Colston, but rather impressive second-year pro Brandon Coleman.
Finally, Payton’s offense is extremely diverse. Players work hard, but they do it in the right way..
Why? Because it helps evaluate the performance of every player. I hope he was thriving before his injury.
The Morgans looked good for the Saints. “I told Tom first and foremost that I’m gonna stand by him regardless of what happens and I don’t call him to talk about anything negative so friends are supposed to stay positive and move you in the right direction and that’s the I’m there for”. I don’t think the more accomplished teams, the teams that know what the main goal is for these joint practices is to get better. “I finally got to meet my childhood hero, so it was a special day for me”.
