Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski has bone bruise, knee sprain
In a video posted online Tuesday, Gronkowski said, “I just want to say thank you to my friends and family and all the fans out there for the support the last two days”.
Rob Gronkowski suffered a bone bruise and sprain of his right knee during the New England Patriots’ 30-24 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.
When Osweiler took over, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison bristled when asked about finally having the full playbook at his disposal.
The Broncos are plus-2 in turnover differential in Osweiler’s starts. In 11 games played this season, Gronkowski has 57 receptions for 931 yards and nine touchdowns.
The defensive lineman was disruptive all game, finishing with four tackles, two passes batted down and a hit on quarterback Brock Osweiler.
“It’s so far ahead of what I’m thinking about”.
Manning didn’t make the trip to Chicago for Osweiler’s first career start a week earlier so that he could continue getting treatment.
“I don’t see why a defense-less receiver shouldn’t get his legs protected, too”, he said.
By being on the list, Johnson can’t resume practice for six weeks and can’t play in a game for eight weeks.
Overall, Osweiler hasn’t been fantastic, but he has proven he can run Head Coach Gary Kubiak’s offense well and that he is cool under pressure.
Osweiler’s stats may not have been extraordinary, but the stat sheet showed him with 23/42, 270 yards, TD, INT and when he moved the ball, especially in the second half, he dispersed it to his key playmakers when needed and made several throws that only a few quarterbacks could accomplish in the snowy game. And everybody says, ‘Well, when did he say you’re going to get better?’ When it heals.
The 25-year-old will start in place of Manning in San Diego this Sunday.
Add all of this up and it seems the Denver Broncos are peaking at the right moment as December is upon us with the home stretch looming ever closer.
“I think the No. 1 thing that’s impressed me is I think he understands exactly what he needs to do for the team to be successful”, Kubiak said of Osweiler.
He has been sacked eight times over the last two weeks, most in the National Football League during that time.
9News had to know: Once Manning gets back healthy, and with Osweiler playing so well, would Manning be willing to accept a backup role? “I think we just stay the course and continue to work with Christian”. He did not yet know whether he would travel to San Diego with the team for Sunday’s game.
