Patriots Vs. Bills Odds: AFC East Leading Pats Favored On Monday Night
Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan has admitted that the New England Patriots are all but certain to win the AFC East title ahead of his side’s clash with the division leaders on Monday night. All has been fairly quiet as Ryan’s squad gears up for a second go-around with Bill Belichick’s Patriots. Ryan, who said before his return trip last week to face the NY Jets that he had this upcoming game against the Patriots circled on his calendar, changed his tone Thursday and downplayed any added importance to playing New England.
The defensive line of the Buffalo Bills stopped Ryan’s former team inside their own 10-yard line not once, but twice in the final minutes of the game. “No”, Ryan said matter-of-factly.
Anyone who has followed my coverage of the Buffalo Bills over the last several years knows that I’m anything but a cheerleader for this franchise and it will take more than a couple of wins over the Dolphins and the Jets to convince me that this is the year the longest active playoff drought (15 years) in the National Football League will come to an end. You’re the ones who talk about them every single day. We want to be a team that prides themselves on playing our game and not getting caught into the other part of it.
Of course, Ryan did know what they were talking about.
This game is all on them.
Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots: Brady was pretty solid as usual in Week 10, posting 334 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots are a little banged up, having lost Julian Edelman to a foot injury last week, but remain the cream of the crop in the NFL. Do we want to beat them?
“But do I obsess about them and all that?”
Rex Ryan has been colorful this week, but don’t expect Belichick to be provide any pregame entertainment. I feel like I really know him and all that kind of stuff through him. “The only thing I’m focused on his beating them right now”.
My bet virtually doomed, as the Patriots would need 17 points to cover the spread, I felt the karma incurred by betting against the hometown team filling the crowded bar.
“He always looks good”, said Belichick.
LeGarrette Blount, RB, New England Patriots: For what it’s worth, Blount has emerged as the Patriots’ go-to guy in a normally hard-to-predict backfield.
Healthy Bills Look to their Offense this time: Unlike the first matchup back in September, the Bills weapons on offense are healthy this time around and they hoping to make a much bigger impact.
As for what the secret to the “Patriot Way” is, Mulligan pointed to the continuity the team has had, particularly on its coaching staff.
“‘I don’t know”, Ryan said in response to the question of why he’s mad at the New England reporters. “They’ve been doing this for years, shuffling guys in and out and still making plays, so it’s going to be tough to get them off the field because he’ll find the guys who are open”.
