Patriots Waive Chris Harper After Muffed Punt
It’s something that it seems like Belichick would do to the Broncos, so John Elway should give him a taste of his own medicine, though the Patriots might not even care since they are the ones who released Harper.
Staying true to their beliefs, the Patriots cut wide receiver Chris Harper Monday after the rookie muffed a punt that cost them the game Sunday night against the Denver Broncos. Denver went on to win the game in overtime.
The New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick typically have no patience for mental mistakes and costly errors. As Denver’s special teams players were dangerously closing in, he attempted to receive and return the punt instead of just calling the fair catch like Edelman or Amendola would have done. His replacement Danny Amendola has missed yesterday’s game due to a knee injury.
Should Harper navigate through waivers unclaimed, the Patriots should not waste any time in placing him on their practice squad.
Patriots fans could spin this move into a positive.
After the muffed punt, the Patriots did not return Colquitt’s 38-yard boot with 4:26 remaining in the fourth quarter.
On Monday, the club also took a closer look at free agent wide receiver/return specialist Damaris Johnson and running back Terrence Magee.
