Pats’ owner Robert Kraft slights Manning clan
“He has two sons who have won two Super Bowls [each]. But with all due respect, we got one son – who has won four”.
Gracious in victory, being a poor sport in defeat is routinely the Patriots mantra.
Elsewhere in the interview with WCVB, Kraft referred to Brady as “the greatest … quarterback of all time”.
The New York Giants and quarterback Eli Manning have also won two Super Bowls, also both at the expense of the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady. Advantage: Kraft’s son, Tom Brady. Eli and Peyton have combined for four rings, while Brady has captured four. And the Patriots fell to little brother Eli not once but twice in the NFL’s championship game, including one in Indianapolis.
“I sure hope so, and that’s my plan”, Kraft said. He has previously said that “there is nothing more satisfying” than giving the Colts a loss, and recently he chose to take a small shot at the Colts’ greatest player, Peyton Manning. He may not always be right, but at least he’s entertaining. Instead, the Patriots sputtered, losing 20-10 in the regular season finale. From Spygate to Deflategate, there’s no question the Patriots’ success is viewed through the prism of an asterisk for many National Football League analysts, experts and historians.
Kraft was asked if Brady and Belichick will retire as Patriots.
Speaking of what could have been, Kraft said that his biggest regret of the season was that the Patriots had to play the AFC Championship game on the road.
His Patriots weren’t in the Super Bowl, having lost to the Broncos in the AFC title game, but the owner was still on hand for Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium. Kraft told WCVB that he encountered Archie Manning while attending the game in Santa Clara.
