Paul Airport temporarily evacuated after bag tests positive
An unattended bag left on a weight scale at Minneapolis-St.
An unattended backpack at the Minneapolis/St. Paul worldwide Airport tested positive for explosive material this afternoon, forcing the airport to shut down a portion of its ticketing area for two hours. About 30 minutes later, the airport tweeted the scene was cleared and the airport returned to normal operations.
The bag was found near the United ticketing counter, the airport tweeted around 1 p.m., leading to the evacuation of a ticketing area in the terminal. The city of Bloomington bomb squad was called in to help.
Airport officials warned passengers to be prepared for long lines and possible delays.
American Airlines, U.S. Airways, Spirit, Frontier and United Airline flights have all been affected.
