Paul Pogba: Juventus say midfielder not for sale
However, Juventus general director confirmed that they have been in talks with the Catalan giants but reiterated the midfielder is not for sale.
Paul Pogba won an impressive 55% of his duels last season in Serie A.
Barca presidential candidate Joan Laporta recently claimed former Manchester United player Pogba would play for the la Liga side next year if he is elected club president on Saturday.
Juve turned down a reported €80million bid from FC Barcelona earlier this month after the European champions sent a delegation, led by the club’s global sporting director Ariedo Braida, to Milan for negotiations.
“We have negotiated with Barça in recent months”.
“This is the right way to do business between two teams that have so much history and importance in the world of football”.
Barca already saw a €80 million bid rejected by the Italian champions and Laporta says if he wins, that will be an added advantage in the signing of the 22-year-old midfielder.
Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, suggested a deal could yet be done if Laporta gets back in power, a claim Juventus have now emphatically dismissed.
“The situation is very clear between Barça and Juventus after the meeting we had in Milan”.
I know [head of the football sector] Albert Soler. His trip to Turin seemed political and more to do with taking a photograph [and drawing attention]. “Ridiculous. Paul and I weren’t even in Turin”.
“[Barca] made us a serious and concrete offer and we answered in the same way”.
Laporta, who was Barcelona president from 2003-10, has made campaign promises to secure Pogba’s signature as he seeks the club’s top post for the second time.
