Paul Pogba: Juventus stand firm amid speculation
“There is a strong possibility that Pogba will play for Barcelona if Laporta is elected”.
“Whoever is interested needs to talk to us and not with agent Mino Raiola“, Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta said.
Loporta’s big claim is that should he become president then the club could complete a deal for in-demand Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.
Dismissing any such claims, Morotta said that Barca cannot make any signings and Juve does not want to sell and insisted that the player is not for sale, the BBC reported.
According to the report, last month, the Champions League winners had a £56 million bid for the 22-year-old rejected by Juventus – who themselves are desperate to retain the French international’s services amid interest from Barcelona and the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.
“We have negotiated with Barca in recent months”.
“The situation is clear between Juventus and Barcelona since the meeting we had in Milan with their director Albert Soler and my friend Ariedo Braida”.
“[Barca] made us a serious and concrete offer and we answered in the same way”.
The European Champions have already added Arda Turan from Athletico Madrid and Aleix Vidal from Sevilla, although they won’t be able to field their new acquisitions till January 2016 due to a transfer ban imposed on them by Federation Internationale de Football Association.
Laporta, who was Barcelona president from 2003-10, has made campaign promises to secure Pogba’s signature as he seeks the club’s top post for the second time.
Juventus have to hold on to their star players and especially when Arturo Vidal is also on the verge of leaving the club for Bayern Munich.
