Paul Ryan meets with Ivanka Trump in New York City
“Immediately, what do you think, yes, yeah, take their guns away, she doesn’t want guns”.
House Speaker Paul Ryan met with Ivanka Trump in New York City on Monday at her request, according to a source familiar with the meeting. The leading Republican was there to discuss his “better way” economic plan.
Their meeting came after Ryan’s address at the Economic Club of NY earlier in the afternoon and was at Ivanka Trump’s request, according to two sources familiar with the meeting.
The relationship between Ryan and the Trump family has not always been great.
At a campaign rally in Miami Friday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump again spoke loosely about violence theoretically being inflicted on his opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton.
“I released mine”, Ryan said of when he was the Republican vice presidential nominee in 2012.
“I released mine, I think we should release ours.”
Ryan has also at times publicly condemned some of Trump’s fiery rhetoric.
Ivanka Trump, who is one of her father’s closest confidantes, has kept in touch with Hill Republicans throughout the presidential campaign on policy issues. She has also been involved in policy development, recently pushing her father to unveil a childcare proposal.
