Paul Ryan shouldn’t ‘waste his time on fighting Republican nominee’
In his first tweet of the day, Trump sought to blame Ryan for not doing well.
One of the most vexing quandaries for Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan in 2016 has been whether, and how, to support the GOP’s presidential nominee.
“And do you think they’ll cooperate with you trashing them?”
Despite making controversial statements throughout the campaign, Trump suggested that he now has an even greater level of freedom.
“Nothing has changed in regard with our relationship”, Priebus said in a call with RNC committee members, according to sources on the call.
“I’m just exhausted of non-support” from leaders of the Republican party, Trump told Fox News on Tuesday night, saving special ire for House Speaker Paul Ryan, who told Republicans on Monday that he’ll no longer campaign for Trump.
The “shackles” gone, Donald Trump stepped up his fierce attacks on his own party leaders Tuesday, promising to teach Republicans who oppose him a lesson and fight for the presidency “the way I want to”.
Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck said Tuesday that “Paul Ryan is focusing the next month on defeating Democrats, & all Republicans running for office should probably do the same”.
Trump, 70, has portrayed himself as tough on national security, and his campaign released a television advertisement on Tuesday featuring footage of Clinton, a 68-year-old former secretary of state, stumbling last month after leaving a service commemorating the September 11 attacks.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is set to visit Wisconsin next week after scuttling an appearance in the wake of criticism over predatory remarks he made about women. “I gave him the endorsement because he needed it for the primary, and frankly he ran against a very, very good woman”.
Meanwhile, Texas Senator and former Republican rival Ted Cruz said he was still voting Trump as Mrs Clinton was an “absolute disaster”.
Speculation before the debate had centered on how Trump might try to win back women offended by his assertion on the 2005 tape that his fame gave him license to grope and kiss women he had just met.
Let’s not forget that Trump also failed to immediately denounce former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke when he earned his endorsement in February.
A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll taken after a Sunday’s debate and released on Tuesday showed Clinton with a 9-point lead on Trump, winning 46 percent of likely voters compared to Trump’s 37 percent.
Some Republicans warn the growing civil war within the GOP will have ramifications well beyond the November 8 election.
Such a battle would pit his loyal supporters against the rest of the GOP, including vulnerable lawmakers running for re-election that could threaten the party’s hold on Congress. Second, Trump spent months insisting he’d rely on the backing of rank-and-file voters and could thrive without the backing of the establishment and GOP leaders.
“He’s never heard salty language before, you know”, Trump said sarcastically.
Adding fuel to the fire, was Trump’s shift from firing upon Speaker Ryan to the party itself.
Ryan says he will rather work to try to preserve the party’s majority in the House.
“The brand damage Trump may do to the GOP could last an entire generation”, he said.
“To be honest with you, Bill, I get along with people”, Trump said.
Trump was, unsurprisingly, not impressed by these reports.
“I don’t always agree with her, but she’s reasonable and she’s smart”, Republican Jennifer Kohn says in one spot.
