Paul, Santorum end White House bids; Santorum backs Rubio
Rick Santorum was on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program Thursday to support Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign, but couldn’t name one accomplishment the Florida senator has achieved while in office.
“That’s why we chose to support Marco Rubio”, he added.
JoDee Winterhof, the Human Rights Campaign’s senior vice president for policy and political affairs, said Santorum’s of Rubio endorsement demonstrates the two share the shame anti-LGBT outlook.
“The best way that I can do what I set out to do when we announced to run for president…”
Santorum is scheduled to appear on Fox News Wednesday night.
Santorum explained the importance of their ministry and said, “We have seen it in our lives, the transformative love of Jesus Christ”.
Santorum’s challenges in the presidential race underscore the uniqueness of the 2016 cycle.
He described Rubio as a “born leader” and praised his “optimistic” message. According to several national Republicans familiar with his plans, he will discuss his decision to end his 2016 campaign and he will likely make an endorsement of one of his GOP rivals.
Santorum, a 57-year-old former USA senator from Pennsylvania, won the Iowa caucuses four years ago, but managed only 1 percent of the vote in the Iowa contest on Monday.
Yet host Joe Scarborough didn’t ask which personal quality of Rubio’s Santorum liked the most. The list of candidates already courting religious voters includes former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Baptist pastor who won the Iowa caucuses in 2008, Perry, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Texas Sen.
After former Pennsylvania Sen.
“I don’t really have an absolute answer for what went on with the election and why people make their choices”, the Republican said in a telephone interview Wednesday after a disappointing fifth-place finish in Iowa. Those are views GOP frontrunners Senator Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and Senator Marco Rubio also embrace.
His status of long shot kept him from the main stage in every presidential debate.
“If you look at being in the minority in the United States Senate in a year when nothing got – four years where nothing got done, I guess it’s hard to say there are accomplishments”, Santorum said. But Parker could not confirm whether Santorum is considering abandoning his bid altogether after finishing 11th out of 12 candidates in the Iowa caucus, saying only, “I’m hopeful to get the tour cranked back up soon”.
