Paul Scholes encouaged by Red Devils performance against Newcastle

United led 2-0 at half-time, but Newcastle produced a splendid comeback to snatch a point in front of their home fans on Tuesday.

Manchester United’s attacking performance at Newcastle was arguably their best this season after their recent struggles to create chances and to score goals, which had even Van Gaal echoing Paul -Scholes’s comments that he had been bored by some of his side’s inability to break down defences.

At the final whistle Newcastle’s 21-year-old Serbian made a beeline to ensure he swapped shirts with the Rdds 30-year-old striker and afterwards he scoffed at the critics who suggest Rooney is finished.

But overall that isn’t enough and with United in the race to secure Champions League football, their hopes took a major dent with that result and they must now beat Liverpool on the weekend.

“After going 2-0 up, we were in control of the game, and then we’ve let them back into it. To then get our third goal and concede again was disappointing from us”, Rooney told in-house television channel MUTV.

The United captain’s superb 20-yard strike put the Red Devils back in front before Dummett’s late goal salvaged a point for Steve McClaren’s side. I think he can play 10 years more.
