Paul Suggests Christie Is The ‘World War Three’ Candidate
Christie said, adding that, “We have had 250,000 Syrians murdered and slaughtered, millions around the world running for their lives – it’s not working, we need to try something else, and that is not reckless”.
As the campaign tone shifts to terrorism and national security, the debate hit right into Christie’s wheelhouse. “And it was widows and orphans by the way”, Christie said, recounting an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
“If we announce that we’re going to have a no-fly zone… it’s a recipe for disaster”, said Paul. The fact is this is a new world war and one that won’t look like the last two. This is the last GOP debate of the year, with U.S. Sen.
“The 13 Republican candidates, including Governor Christie, showcased at Tuesday’s debate, showed the American people why a Republican will win the White House in November 2016”. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul followed up Christie’s answer by stating, “if you’re in favor of World War III, you have your candidate”.
Christie also characterized some of the legislators standing on stage with him as being “people who’ve never had to make a consequential decision in an executive position”. “If you’re not willing to defend the border, all that other stuff sort of falls away”. I mean, I think when we think about the judgement of someone who might want World War III, we might think about someone who might shut down a bridge because they don’t like their friends.
Christie ignored the Bridgegate reference and instead defended his no-fly zone policy over Syria. Court documents showed that David Wildstein, a longtime Christie ally and former Port Authority executive, was involved in a scheme to punish a political rival by ordering lane closures on the George Washington Bridge in September 2013. He said FBI Director James Comey had made clear that the refugees could not be adequately vetted, and thus, security concerns demanded that their entry be halted.
