PAX: Duke Nukem 3D
As it turns out, these leaks were correct as Gearbox has just announced Duke Nukem 3D: 20 Anniversary Edition World Tour, which will launch on October 11 for PC (Steam), Xbox One, and PS4. The epicly oldschool first-person shooter Duke Nukem 3D is coming back, and fans of the game-long-time fans of the game, given that it’s now celebrating its 20th anniversary-are going to get a little new content to play and some extra, (likely crude) one-liners to laugh at. Developer commentary will also be included, which should at least prove to be an interesting time capsule, and perhaps one Gearbox hopes will erase the stain of Duke Nukem Forever from memory.
So get those lizard skin boots shined and ready for alien ass kicking, soldier.
Late last week, news broke that gaming’s most notable meathead, Duke Nukem, was possibly making his grand return.
As mentioned before, Duke Nukem 3D came out in 1996 for the MS-DOS, featuring three episodes.
20 Anniversary World Tour is an upcoming HD remaster of Duke Nukem 3D for modern consoles. Recruiting the original designers, including the sound guy, back to the project, this new edition will feature eight brand new levels to round out the classic Duke 3D experience. In addition, the character’s original voice actor, Jon St. John, will re-record many of Duke’s lines.
Pitchford said that Richard “Levelord” Gray and other 3D Realms devs contributed to the new campaign.
About one week ago, a countdown started in recognition of Duke Nukem’s 20th anniversary.
Earlier this week, when the official Twitter account of the Duke Nukem game shared an update hinting yet another Duke Nukem game, people couldn’t contain their excitement.
Originally released in 1996, Duke Nukem 3D received praise for its level design, gameplay, and sense of humour, while causing controversy over its violence, sexism, and sense of humour.
