Pearl Harbour attack remembered in US
We spoke with local veterans who want all Americans to remember the day that lives in infamy.
After laying a wreath in front of the wall of stars, one of the survivor said, “I am honoured to be here, to be the luckiest one here”.
Ed Schuler, 94, said he keeps returning to Pearl Harbor to honor his old shipmates killed on the USS Arizona.
“For 74 years, we’ve remembered Pearl Harbor”.

With a display of patriotism, many hope people remember those who gave their lives for freedom.
In Hawaii, the USS Arizona Memorial commemorates the attack, and the Battleship Missouri symbolizes the end of WWII. “…A month later and I left high school with my parents’ permission they signed my papers and I joined the Marine Corps to do what I could to help win the war”.
He comes to the annual ceremony because the attack was a big thing in his life. Hawaii Air National Guard F-22s were due to fly overhead to break the silence about 45 seconds later. She said the Navy heard nothing but positive feedback about the ceremony.
Almost half of those who perished at Pearl Harbor were sailors aboard the battleship USS Arizona, which Japanese torpedo bombers sank early in the attack, sending 1,177 of its 1,400-member crew to their deaths.
