Pearl Jam jumps on Eddie Vedder-Chicago train with Cubs-inspired shirts
Now, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder may have taken it to the next level. Perhaps he’ll ditch his job as a dad rock star and become the Cubs ball boy.
“It’s cool to share it with fans, being at Wrigley, everyone is high-fiving”, said Punk when asked if he preferred to watch high-stakes games at home or in the crowd during an interview Tuesday with 120 Sports. The Cubs have a long list of celebrity fans: Actors Vince Vaughn, Nick Offerman, Jeff Garlin, Gary Sinise, Jake Johnson and Ike Barinholtz, NASCAR driver Danica Patrick and rockers Pete Wentz and Tom Morello.
It was Cubs catcher Miguel Montero who termed his team’s 2015 mantra: “We are good”.
When the Cubs beat Pittsburgh in the wild-card game last week, Vedder, who was born in Chicago, partied with the team in the locker room. Seeing an opportunity to do a few good, Pearl Jam have designed a few new merchandise that is sure to be a favorite of both fans of Vedder and the Cubs. In addition, Vedder’s name and the number 15 in honor of the year of this historic Cubs run appear on the back of the shirts.
But with his team five more victories away from its first World Series appearance in 70 years, Vedder has mixed feelings because his band, Pearl Jam, is going on tour and is leaving the country before the Series is set to begin.
The Cubs just don’t know how to cooperate, even when they win.
“This year I didn’t think we had to worry about it”, Vedder said.
Remember when he was at the Mariners’ game with Paul Simon and Jack White?
