Pebble Beach: MSO Showcasing One-Off McLaren 570S
McLaren just announced its line-up for the event and things are looking great. The most impressive cars of their line-up seem to be the MSO (McLaren Special Operations) 570S Coupes according to their press release but we’re enticed by all of their cars, to be frank.
McLaren announced earlier today (Aug. 10, 2015) that they are bringing a whole flotilla of special editions to Pebble Beach Concours that is taking place this weekend. And the show auto will be capable of the same feats while sporting a uniquely formulated Mauvine Blue exterior paint finish and a bespoke cabin kitted out in Carbon black leather with Mauvine Blue accents. The 675LT is the lightest, most performance orientated, street-legal model in the series.
In addition to the purple 570S, MSO will also exhibit a Ventura Orange auto on Pebble Beach’s Concept Lawn. McLaren will also be showing off a new limited-edition version of the 650S, as well as the new 675LT. With a top speed of 330km/h (205mph), the 675LT accelerates to 100km/h (62mph) from standstill in 2.9 seconds, and hits 200km/h (124mph) in just 7.9 seconds.
Visually it differs greatly from the standard hand-built vehicle and instead takes styling cues form the race-winning McLaren F1 GTR with a roof-mounted snorkel air intake, bespoke alloy wheels and louvered front wings.
The cars being sold will be offered in Sarthe Grey, but the auto on display is finished in the orange used by Bruce McLaren on his 1960s racers. The sale will see two of the most exclusive McLaren models ever produced going under the hammer with a McLaren P1™ and the penultimate McLaren F1.
And finally, on an historical note, on loan from BMW North America (which sponsored it during its debut racing season) will be a 1996 F1 GTR, chassis #17R, which was raced by that year’s World Endurance Championship by Team Bigazzi, including finishing eighth at Le Mans.
