Pebble Time Round: World’s Lightest and Thinnest Smartwatch
The internal processor rests behind a 2.5D Gorilla Glass display, and can be used to schedule calendar events, send text messages, even answer incoming calls, and houses a built-in microphone for voice reply messaging.
The Pebble Time Round is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
Back in February, Pebble had released the Pebble Time smartwatch with a square design on the crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter, where it is broke all records.
It was only earlier this week that Pebble launched a new smartwatch, named Pebble Time Round, marking the arrival of the third smartwatch in the Pebble Time series.
At just 28 grams in weight and 7.5mm in thickness, this smartwatch is the lightest and thinnest ever manufactured. Pebble is offering an SDK for developers to adapt their watch faces and apps for the new dimensions. “The lovely, always-on, e-paper display discreetly camouflages the smarts within”, said Pebble. Bands are available in 20mm or 14mm and finishes include Black, Silver or a special-edition Rose Gold exclusively for the 14mm band size. For instance, the Timeline feature has been copied in Apple’s watchOS 2. It works with Android or iPhone, can suck down 24 hours worth of juice in just 15 minutes, and can also track your activity and sleep – and since its battery lasts for up to two days, you might actually consider wearing it to bed. In basic fact, numerous most necessary full advantage which typically Pebble boasts other smartwatch insurancers is sacrificed within the Time Round.
As Wareable noted, many of Pebble’s unique selling points are now gone. The price will be $249, which is no longer cheaper that its rivals. “With this product, we try to look at people who don’t have a smartwatch on their wrist today”, said Pebble co-founder and CEO Eric Migicovsky during the Disrupt SF Conference. For buyers located in the United Kingdom, the Pebble Time Round watch is expected to be available later this year.
