Pedro will be better at United than Di Maria – Thierry Henry
Thierry Henry says that Barcelona winger Pedro would be a good signing for Manchester United.
The 28-year-old will replace the gap left by Angel Di Maria following his departure for Paris Saint-Germain last Thursday, with Louis van Gaal keen to bring in some more pace and creativity into his side, as per the newspaper.
Despite the claims of a fee being agreed, it was widely thought the Spaniard had a £22m release clause in his contract.
The deal to sign Pedro has been held up for now after Barcelona lost Neymar for a fortnight due to mumps, but is expected to go through later this week.
What has always been a trademark of Pedro’s game is his willigness to obey orders from the coach.
“No one was better at applying pressure from out wide”.
Henry was at the Nou Camp during Pedro’s breakthrough season under Pep Guardiola in 2009-10, and the former Arsenal striker believes the Spain worldwide has the attributes to succeed where Di Maria failed.
Do you feel that Pedro would be better suited for Manchester United? He wants his players to stick rigidly to their positions and maximise their area of the pitch.
The Spanish worldwide has struggled to dislodge the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, who have formed a brilliant understanding, and despite making 33 appearances in the La Liga last season, the Tenerife born player managed the full 90 minutes on just eight occasions.
“Van Gaal wants players that can adapt to his manner of seeing the game, this is the reason they are trying to get him“.
“Pedro will be much more disciplined”.
He warned, “van Gaal knows he can not afford to wait for all of his new signings to gel at Old Trafford”.
