Pelicans’ Anthony Davis talks injury, Team USA: Podcast
The New Orleans Pelicans announced Wednesday the team’s schedule for the 2015-16 regular season. Two months later, the Pelicans will take their talents to South Beach and face the Heat in a Christmas Day matinee (ESPN, 11 a.m.). Add in games against the rebuilding Denver Nuggets and Brooklyn Nets, and the Pelicans should be favored by significant margins as it closes out the season.
New Orleans is scheduled to appear on 21 nationally televised games this season. ESPN will broadcast the Pelicans’ home matchups against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, November 20 and the lone visit by the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, December 4, as well road contests at Oklahoma City (Nov. 18), Phoenix (Dec. 18), Miami (Dec. 25), Memphis (Jan. 18), Houston (Mar. 2) and Golden State (Mar. 14). Last season, the Pelicans had just three Thursday games. New Orleans will then return home to host the Lakers, Suns and Bulls before closing out the season in Minnesota against the Timberwolves.
Davis signed the deal in Hong Kong the place he’s on tour working with youth camps, and he stated: “I’m very excited to proceed to play for the Pelicans and stay a proud resident of New Orleans”. New Orleans was featured 13 times between the three networks during the 2008-09 season. Perhaps more notably, the Pelicans do not have any instances on their entire schedule where they must play four games in five nights.
Golden State will play on TNT 10 times, same number of appearances as the Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers.
