Pelicans Waive Corey Webster
The New Orleans Pelicans have signed two point guards in veteran Nate Robinson and Bo McCalebb to separate contracts this week to add depth in their guard rotation for the upcoming 2015-2016 National Basketball Association Season.
In college, the New Orleans native posted career at averages of 20.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists and remains UNO’s all-time scoring leader.
Given the multiple bodies at the same position, making the Pelicans’ final 15-man roster will not be an easy task for the multi-time dunk champion in Nate Robinson.
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has signed guard Bo McCalebb. If Robinson plays at all like he did last season there is a chance that McCalebb would be an upgrade over him.
And then the summer came, and it didn’t look like teams were greatly interested in the 10-year veteran – or he lacked interest in offers put on the table – as rumors connected Robinson to a potential deal in China.
The Breakers guard paid his own way to take part in the side’s pre-season campaign.
“I want to say thank you to everyone at the Pelicans for the way they have opened their doors to me these past few weeks”.
“I will reset my goals and one of them is returning home to the Breakers and having a great season for them. Now though it is time to get back to work with the Breakers”. However, his three-point shooting skillset will likely be slightly marginalised with Webster returning.
The 26-year-old’s return means Breakers management will have to make a call on Everard Bartlett who was called in as cover for Webster.
Webster wrote on Twitter that his time with the Pelicans was invaluable.
