Pellegrini says Manchester City have ‘complete’ squad
But Manchester City are now without a win in six away games in the English Premier League – a record that has prevented them building fully on their flying start to the season.
“No, really I think the squad is complete”.
Pellegrini said: “I don’t divide games that we play into home and away”.
Watford host Manchester City at Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Saturday trading as bet365’s 4/1 outsiders to continue their remarkably successful 2015/16 top-flight form with a victory.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side slipped up last time out as they were held to a draw in a top-of-the-table clash with Leicester City, and so they will naturally be desperate to get back to winning ways as soon as possible in order to keep the pressure on their rivals. It is, in Pellegrini’s words, “a good position” going into the second half of the season, but it represents a significantly lower points total than they had accrued at the same stage in previous years. “But I think we are in the correct way”.
“I don’t talk about rumours”, Pellegrini said in a news conference, giving his stock answer.
Tuesday’s goalless draw against second place Leicester was Manchester City’s first clean sheet in the league this season without their Belgian captain.
“As for ourselves, I feel we are in a good position”.
“At the beginning of last season we were only talking about relegation, this season it’s top of the league”.
“I’m not happy but I’m not disappointed either because we played well but didn’t score”.
“With the amount of points we have at this moment, it is not good to fight for the title in a normal season, but we are now just three points behind the leaders”.
For Pellegrini, the most pressing issue right now is getting to the bottom of Vincent Kompany’s injury problems.
‘We are trying to do all to know how we can help Vincent to try to be fit and not to continue with the same calf problems so everything the club can do, we are going to do it’.
