Pelosi: Clinton ‘smart’ to apologize on email server
Clinton tried joking about it earlier this summer. In a shift in tone, Clinton apologized this week for using the server, in an interview aired Tuesday on ABC News. “Like with a cloth or something?”
The flurry of Clinton activity this week hints at the depth of concern about her national campaign. There were variations of her responsibility-taking in the past week. “I never should have said ‘I went above and beyond what was expected.’ If I had been more careful with my words, I might have said I defied every reasonable expectation”.
As Hillary Clinton drops in the polls she’s making her best effort to reconnect with women voters, most recently by appearing on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show”. Then came the apology: “That was a mistake”. So she told Muir, “I’m sorry that it has, you know, raised all of these questions”. “I take responsibly for that”.
Clinton had hired former State Department IT employee Bryan Pagliano to set up and maintain the server, and he has been swept up in the ongoing investigation.
Matt McDonald of Hamilton Place Strategies, a former adviser to GOP presidential campaigns, called Clinton’s situation a classic example of what happens when IT experts don’t have a big enough voice in big decisions. “She’s for the exploitation of women and children and that is something as a woman that I simply can’t stand for”. This, Davis notes, is significant because it indicates that the information in the email was classified at the time it originated and not at the time it was marked.
Mat Borges, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, said in a released statement that Clinton “has certainly not proven that she deserves to be promoted to president of the United States”. The lawyer, Mark MacDougall, says Pagliano also will refuse to testify if served with a subpoena by two Senate committees looking into the email controversy. I thought using one device would be simpler, and obviously, it hasn’t worked out that way. “Any “proffer session” or other disclosure by Mr. Pagliano – or his lawyers acting on his behalf – of the contents of his possible testimony creates the very practical risk that our client will later be said to have waived his constitutional protections”. A new Quinnipiac poll out Thursday morning showed him leading her by one point in Iowa, the first caucus state.
Clinton gave in 55,000 pages of work-related emails last year , while the FBI has also taken possession of the server after Clinton resisted giving up until last month. But she was the filter.
The state department should have hired a gunny. Does the FBI find something that should have been included in the emails she had turned over?
