Pelosi slams Trump’s call for investigation into 2010 Russian Federation meeting
Capitol Hill Democrats, including Mr. Schumer, have called on Mr. Sessions to resign over the Russian contact and failure to disclose it.
Trump said that there should be an immediate investigation into Senator Schumer’s “ties to Russian Federation and Putin”, and called him a “total hypocrite!” “I mean, Chuck Schumer sitting and having drinks with Putin and that’s not a news story, but apparently a volunteer for a campaign bumping into one at a conference where there’s again dozens of other ambassadors is newsworthy”.
President Donald Trump looks on as he meets with parents and teachers at Saint Andrew Catholic School in Orlando, Fla., on Friday.
He attached a photo of a younger Schumer drinking coffee and eating what appeared to be donuts with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Eastern Time linking to a Politico article which shows that Nancy Pelosi met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in 2010. Following his grand tonal reset at this week’s address to the joint session of Congress, President Trump has returned to his established pattern of posting histrionic tweets inspired by right wing media. “President and I have full confidence in the Attorney General”.
“.@realDonaldTrump doesn’t know difference between official mtg photographed by press & closed secret mtg his AG lied about under oath”.
“It would be of Alice and Wonderland quality if this administration were to sanction [Sessions] to investigate himself”, Schumer said.
Schumer responded to the tweet, indicating that he would happily oblige to discuss his relationship with Putin and calling on Trump to do the same.
Infowars editor Paul Joseph Watson shared the photo with his followers in a tweet, sarcastically writing “Chuck Schumer must resign immediately!”
“I would say at this point we know less than a fraction of what the Federal Bureau of Investigation knows…”
Several other members of Mr Trump’s administration have also faced questions over ties to Russian Federation, including former national security advisor Michael Flynn.
