Pence campaign logo is raising eyebrows
Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania says he likes Donald Trump’s selection of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as a running mate, even though Toomey still has concerns about Trump as the GOP’s presidential standard bearer. However, the documents have not been filed, according to the Republican, who insisted on anonymity because that person was not authorized to publicly discuss Pence’s plans. During the early years of President Barack Obama’s administration, Pence helped lead the opposition to the Democrat’s agenda.
He said Pence would stand up to America’s enemies and that he and the governor represent “the law-and-order candidates” at home.
“The American people are exhausted”, Pence said in remarks that included numerous same talking points that until recently he was using in his bid for re-election.
For Pence, a former six-term congressman, Trump’s selection offers a return to national politics after his embrace as governor of conservative social issues sidelined his own presidential ambitions.
Trump described meeting with Pence’s family, including his wife and daughter, as part of the motivation for selecting him as a running mate.
“What a difference between crooked Hillary Clinton and Mike Pence”, Trump said.

He said: “Given the options, Pence was the really the only one who delivered any amount of value to the campaign”.
Gingrich told The Associated Press he had expected to hear from Trump one way or the other sometime after 1 p.m. Reached by phone later, Gingrich said he had not heard from Trump, but still expected to receive word Thursday afternoon.
Clinton’s campaign is seizing on the suggestion that Donald Trump may have wavered in making his vice presidential pick. “Our state is inspiring the nation and I’m going to take Hoosier ideas to Washington, D.C”.
Trump and Pence appeared on stage together only momentarily at the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan, each addressing the media and about 100 supporters who assembled for the event without the use of a teleprompter. Pence’s demeanor is as calm as Trump’s is fiery and he brings a sense of discipline that aides and advisers hope can bridge that gap. “And they got crushed immediately, because people want what we’re saying to happen”.
Pence has strong ties to Christian conservatives and as governor signed legislation allowing businesses to claim religious freedom and refuse to serve gay and lesbian customers. The drastically different styles highlighted Pence’s ability to provide a complementing tone to the presidential ticket. In the process, he took the time to explain his long-held belief that Pence’s previous endorsement of his rival, Ted Cruz, “was more of an endorsement for me”.
