Pence says GOP ticket will ‘absolutely’ accept vote outcome
Newly released Federal Bureau of Investigation records show a senior State Department official unsuccessfully sought to lower the classification level of an email found on the server, a move Republican Donald Trump’s campaign labeled collusion.
The tweets showed Trump continuing to play a scattershot a defense rather than make his case to voters, with just three weeks left and much ground to make up in opinion polls.
The GOP candidate has been adamant during rallies and on social media that he’s fighting against a “rigged” election and media bias. If Clinton were to instruct her Attorney General to investigate any of the allegations against Trump, some of which are quite serious, the cries of partisanship and hypocrisy would be loud and dominate political discourse, thus making it hard for Clinton to do anything else with her presidency. An initial draft of Clinton’s statement began by stating: “I made a mistake”.
Underscoring how divisive this election campaign has been, a Republican Party office in the southern state of North Carolina was firebombed overnight Sunday, with the message “Nazi Republicans leave town or else” sprayed on an adjacent building.
“Paul Ryan, a man who doesn’t know how to win (including failed run four years ago), must start focusing on the budget, military, vets, etc.”, Trump tweeted Sunday.
Clinton denounced the attack as “horrific and unacceptable” in her own tweet, adding: “Very grateful that everyone is safe”.
Trump’s campaign has been struggled with sexual misconduct allegations from several women since a 2005 videotape emerged on October 7 showing him boasting about groping and making other unwanted sexual advances on women.
He continues to deny multiple accusations of sexual assault, and declared himself the victim.
Speaking of former president Bill Clinton, he is heading to New Hampshire to campaign for his wife and other Democrats on the November ballot. Clinton immediately tweeted an apology after her initial remarks last March.
“The general election in OH will be close, as it always is, and we are taking nothing for granted”, said Harrell Kirstein, Clinton’s OH communications director. “We are not going to back down”.
He has also urged his supporters to keep an eye on voting locations to prevent a “stolen” election, which some critics interpreted as encouraging them to intimidate voters.
But Pence on Sunday declined to make any such attacks.
Democrats expect the biggest voter turnout in election history, he said.
Rudy Giuliani also said that Democrats could steal a close election by having dead people vote in inner cities. Media rigging election!’ Trump wrote.
And unlike Trump, Pence acknowledged Sunday – for the second time in recent weeks – that evidence points to Russian Federation being behind the hacking of Democratic emails.
“You can not give this country’s future away to people who think anger is better than answers, that resentment is much better than empowerment, that endless conflict is better than cooperation”, he said. US intelligence officials have blamed the Russian government for a series of breaches meant to influence the presidential election.
After the first election debate, Trump said he would respect the election result.
Trump also leads in IN and Missouri, but U.S. Senate races in both places have become very close.
Trump’s favorability among Latinos remains strikingly low.
